One Way Vision (OWV) Film is a perforated self-adhesive vinyl used primarily for window graphics. It allows for full-color printed designs on the outside while maintaining see-through visibility from the inside. The film’s perforations let light pass through, creating a “one-way” visual effect.
How It Works:
The film has small, regularly spaced holes (typically 30–50% open area). When viewed from the printed side, the graphic appears solid. From the unprinted side (usually indoors), the eye focuses through the holes onto the brighter exterior, maintaining outward visibility.
Key Characteristics:
Perforated PVC or PVC-free film
Black adhesive back or dual-layer constructions to enhance visibility from inside
Common perforation patterns: 60/40, 70/30, or 80/20 (print surface/open area)
Applications:
Retail and commercial window advertising
Public transport graphics (bus, tram, or train windows)
Building wraps and storefront branding
Privacy screens for glass partitions
Temporary promotional campaigns
Print Compatibility:
UV-curable inks
Solvent and eco-solvent inks
Latex inks
Benefits:
High-impact graphics without blocking natural light
Maintains interior visibility and privacy
Easy to apply and remove (short- to medium-term durability)
Enhances branding while complying with visibility or safety codes
Considerations:
Limited durability compared to solid vinyls
May require overlaminate with optically clear film for protection
Not suitable for close-range, fine-detail graphics due to perforation gaps
